Barwon Park Mansion

A magnificent period building which has had much restoration work, Barwon Park is open to visitors twice a week (three times over Summer) and well worth a visit. The mainsion was built in 1871 for Thomas and Elizabeth Austin and is a majestic 42 room bluestone mansion and stables set in a sweeping rural landscape. Barwon Park is also the venue for occasional special functions and can even be hired for weddings and similar events. More details (National Trust website)

Winchelsea Shire Hall

An old bluestone building that used to be the Shire Offices before amalgamation with the Surf Coast Shire.

Inside, the walls are lined with history. Plaques, honour-boards, maps, photos and more detailing the past of this regional town and country centre.

The building is now the Winchelsesa Tea Rooms.

Visitor Information Centre

Originally built to house the Winchelsea town Library, the Visitor Information Centre not only contains a wealth of pamphlets, leaflets and guides to the southwest Victoria but also holds historic items such as the Olympic torch carried through the town, the first manual telephone exchange, photos and other paraphernalia.
