Murroon Landcare group

— Friday 26th November

  • 10 am — Working bee at demonstration site (old tennis court site) come with whipper snippers/brush cutters.
  • 12:30pm—Meeting at 200 Middle Murroon Road, property of Max and Heather Smith’s looking at their solar panel set up.


— Friday Dec 17th December 6.30 onwards—Christmas dinner at Mike and Katrine Juleffs’ Raspberry Farm, BYO everything

East Otway Landcare group

— Sunday 21st November, 10:30am — the Annual General Meeting will be held at Peter and Deryn Thomas’ property, `Heartwood Hill’, 200 Pennyroyal Station Road.

Wurdale Landcare group

— Wednesday 24th November, 7.30 pm — meeting at the Wurdale Hall

Winchelsea Festival — Sunday 14th November.

There will be a Serrated Tussock display showing how to identify and see the differences to native grass. Also on the day, information from the Southern Coastal Inland Plains Landcare Network -SCIPN

Frogwood Arboretum — An Open Day Picnic

Sunday 21st November 11 am—4 pm. Entry opposite Martians Cafe, Deans Marsh. Bring a picnic lunch, have a walk, see the trees and join in the fun and games. There will be an information talk at noon. All Welcome. Please no dogs.

Project Expressions Of Interest

— funding for Landcare projects is still very limited but a little bit flows through occasionally from various sources. If you have a project idea you would like assistance with please submit and expression of interest (EOI) form to our office and we will endeavour to seek some support for you. Contact the office or download a form from the UBLN website (under the 'funding’ tab).

UBLN equipment

— there is a range of equipment in the UBLN area that is available for use by Landcare members. Bait layer, rabbit ripper, rabbit fumigator, tree planters, soil sampling tool. In addition East Otway, Murroon and Barwon Rivercare groups have spraying units available for their members. Contact the UBLN office if you are interested in using any of this equipment

Otway LEAF project

— our Biodiversity Survey is still underway, upload details of your sightings of flora and fauna on the Spatial Vision website, cwmp.spatialvision.com.au/swcwmp/

Otway Agroforestry Network — A Big Tree Day

Monday 22nd November at Rowan Reids Bambra Agroforestry Farm, Boonah Rd Bambra.

  • 10am—Looking at Greenhouse Gas Calculators and how integrating multipurpose trees and shrubs can impact on the net emission balance of a farming system.
  • 1 pm — A focus on trees, Rowan Reid will run a session on maximizing greenhouse sequestration on farms and the fundamental principals of agroforestry.
  • 5 pm — Special General Meeting
  • 7pm—Christmas break up and BBQ.

Join the Great Australian Rabbit Census

— Rabbitscan is a
nation wide challenge for the community and schools to help scientists map rabbits infestations. People are being asked to ‘scan’ their landscape for signs of rabbits and their damage and load their results online. Visit www.rabbitscan.net.au for more information or to get started.
