School Vaccinations

Flu vaccinationsWinchelsea Medical Centre is offering an influenza vaccination service to Winchelsea Primary School. A 'Flu Immunisation Clinic' will be provided close to the end of March or beginning of April when supplies come through.

The service will be available to teachers, staff, volunteers, parents and students of the School. Annual flu vaccination is recommended for those who wish to reduce the likelihood of becoming ill with influenza. Those recommended to have the vaccination are;

  • Individuals 65 years old and over
  • Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people 15 years and over
  • People with;
    • Cardiac disease
    • Chronic respiratory conditions including COPD, emphysema and asthma
    • Diabetes
    • Kidney disease
    • Other chronic diseases that increase the risk of complications from influenza infection
  • Pregnant women or those planning pregnancy
  • Those who work or volunteer in a Caring role

The vaccine is at a base price of $15.00 per person, and the consultation will be bulk-billed by Medicare.
