Shire Tweets

Twitter logoIn another move to keep residents and ratepayers in touch with Council matters, Surf Coast Shire has taken to social networking channel Twitter.

Council's Twitter feed @surfcoastnotes will include updates on Council projects, announcements from Council and community interest news. Mayor, Councillor Dean Webster, said Twitter's immediacy would provide residents and ratepayers with a new way to keep in touch, wherever they are in the world.

"Council has been looking at new ways to better engage with residents and ratepayers" Councillor Webster said. "Social media provides opportunities to get more information out about what Council is doing, about Council decisions, information about events and other activities. The service was used with great effect by the Brisbane City Council during the recent floods and many local governments are now exploring the use of social media."

"For residents and ratepayers, it's a great opportunity to keep in touch with what Council is doing in the community."
